Lillian Raven // Facebook // Twitter

Age: Forever young, hahah! :-P
Occupation: Flash animator, Film-maker, metalhead and trouble maker extraordinaire!

Where are you from: Los Angeles, CA... born and raised into the madness from the valley. LIKE OMG! (Yes, we do kinda talk like that.)

Favorite photographer to work with: I work with a lot of awesome amazing women and men, so that is a very very hard question to answer! The ones I relate the most to and get along with the best so far are,  Ama Lea and Angela Morales.

Artist/Photographer/location of featured photo(s): The photos in the kitchen were shot with Vestige Photography at a lovely vintage house owned by a model named Dottie. Makeup was by Red Dodge/Dr. Red who is not only a gorgeous as all heck celebrity makeup artist, but she's also a fantastic woman as well.

Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite? These feature photos were taken about 3 weeks ago. I love the look and feel of them, truly vintage is something I always feel I am close to but not quite... 'til now. I honestly think they are some of my best work to date.

How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? I have been modeling for a little over 3 years consistently. I used to always model or be in videos for my friends' film projects (I have a Bachelors in Film & TV) but I also used to do photography too.

Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? Sabina Kelley and Doris MayDay are the reasons I wanted to even attempt modeling. Of course, I can't forget Mosh. Mosh is something else altogether. Oh my gosh, quick story: The featured photos here that I had shot with Vestige, were on the same day she was shooting with Mosh. I was SO nervous!! She is like breath-taking, I don't even have words. Impeccable, that woman. I have never seen a shot of hers I didn't just love to death. I really adore her. I am also a huge huge fan past pinups and performers, Rita Hayworth and Josephine Baker.

What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I have a LOT of clothes from Heartbreaker Fashion and Stop Staring! Iron Fist are where most of my shoes come from though, I try to have a bit of an edge in my photos.

If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be? This is a really weird question for me because I study lots of different photographers that do not do pinup photography, so my answer isn't going to be all that "normal". Gregory Crewdson does these really neat cinematic life-like shots. He did the Season 3 poster for HBO's 'Six Feet Under' which is one of the best shows I've ever watched. I would love to work with him and create something eerie and amazing. That to me, is true art. Also, Diane Arbus is an amazing photographer of sideshow and deviant acts from the 30s and 40s. Sidenote: Stanley Kubrick loved her work as well, and the world famous shot from his film 'The Shining' with the twins in the hallway is actually an homage and visual interpretation to one of her pieces. Super awesome stuff!

What is your favorite color and why? It used to be purple but I've been loving red a lot more over the last 5 years. I think it suits me and my attitude. Purple is for royalty and while I do feel regal at shoots, red is power and love, who doesn't like those things?

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Anytime anyone asks me about anyone being brought back to life I always go for Freddie Mercury, because... he's Freddie Mercury. I don't think I need to explain that further, he's amazing and Queen is/was an amazing band.

How did you get your model name? Lilly is actually the name of the parasol girl in one of the 4 stretching portraits inside Disney's The Haunted Mansion and it's believed she was given her name as a nod to Walt Disney's wife, Lillian. I am a HUGE Disney/Haunted Mansion fan, can you tell? Haha. Raven is from my favorite poet and writer (after Dorothy Parker), Edgar Allan Poe. My real name is Aris (like Paris, without a P) and I do think my name is pretty but I always have to explain it over 9000 times.
