I wanted to do an interview series about modern relationships and their dynamics. What do you celebrate about your relationship? What keeps you and your partner together? How long were you together before you took the next step in your relationship: (not necessarily marriage, ex: how long were you friends before you started dating? how long were you engaged before marriage?)
My hubby and I met online at Yahoo Personals. We met within a week of talking online non stop and started steadily dating immediately after that date. We took "the next step" on the evening of our first official date :P We met late April 2008 and were engaged August 2008 and married October 2008. Being a second marriage for us both we already knew what we were looking for in a partner.
What initially attracted you to your partner?
Well not his height. Funny story on yahoo personals they send you those emails with hey these people fit your profile. I clicked on Pete's from the profile photo and was like nope he's short. Then I received the nicest most heart felt email from him about who he was, his life and how much he loved his daughter. That sealed the deal for me to meet him and get past him being short aka my height.
What is your favorite thing/attribute about your partner?
My favorite thing which also drives me crazy is his thirst for knowledge of any and everything. It's a total double edge sword as I am jealous and intrigued all at the same time.
Do you live together, if so how long?
We have lived together since Aug 2008
Do you have children and/or pets together?
We each have a our own child from previous marriages and currently own a dog and a cat we got together.
What is your secret to a successful relationship?
Communication although it's not easy. Everyday is not rainbows and cupcakes.
What is your parting advice that you would like to leave for other couples?
Love each other, take the bad moments with a grain of salt and always remember you aren't mind readers share your thoughts, hopes and dreams with each other.
