Luce Cannons

Age: 43

Occupation: Domestic Engineer, but, I was in Finance.

Where are you from: Fort Worth, Texas

Artist/Photographer/location of featured photo(s): Bygone Broads/MUAH Laura Simmons/Fort Worth, Texas

Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite?: July 2012. These are the very first "pin-up" girl photos I had taken, I love them because I am proud that I FINALLY had the courage to have them done!

How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? I have enjoyed pinup photography for as long as I can remember, as far back as high school.

Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? I have so many favorites, it would be hard to choose, but a few that stand out are Ann Miller, Jill St Jean, Beverly Tyler, Dorothy Malone, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Sally Sparrow, and of course, Katty Delux.
I truly admire ANY woman that is comfortable in her own skin, no matter what size she is, because that beauty shows through in her photographs.

What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I like what fits me best, no matter who makes it!

If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be? Cherry Atomic Studios or Miss Missy Photography

What is your favorite color and why? All time favorite is red, but I love turquoise and all the greens of the 50's

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Hard choice, either Audrey Hepburn, Ronald Reagan or Stevie Ray Vaughan

Nicki Reed // Model Mayhem //

Age:23

Occupation: Childcare provider

Where are you from: Maryland

Favorite photographer to work with: My favorite photographer is Susie Berg-Lundmark from Sassy Susie Glamor and Boudoir In Minot, ND. She made me feel super comfortable and her pictures are just on point. She is a wonderful woman and a fantastic photographer.

Artist/Photographer/location of featured photo(s) Cherry girl Hawaii in Honolulu, HI and Sassy Susie Glamor and Boudoir in Minot, ND/ MUA for Sassy Susie Glamor and Boudoir shoot was Glamorous By Jutone Rene.

Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite? The pictures taken from Cherry Girl Hawaii were taken in March, these are my favorite because this was my first photo shoot and I was a little self conscious about myself then I looked at these pictues and thought with some work I might be able to be good at this. The pictures taken from Sassy Susie Glamor and Boudoir were taken in June. They're my favorite because I felt like a bombshell in these photos, I loved the makeup done and the lighting in my opinion was great.

How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? I have been enjoying photography for years now but I have been wanting to model for about 3 years and I finally took a step towards modeling this year.

Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? I love Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. I know those are probably typical answers but I can't help it they were so talented and super gorgeous.

What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? Right Now my favorite clothing lines are Pinup Girl clothing and bettie page clothing. Their clothes really display my curves and make me feel confident, whats the point on wearing clothes that don't make you feel like a bombshell?

If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be? I would love to shoot with Atomic Cheesecake Studios in Baltimore,Maryland I love their pictures. Also Sugar and Spice Photography in Minnesota, I hear ALOT of good things about them.

What is your favorite color and why? My favorite color in the whole wide world is red. I don't know why, cause I know when I was little my fav color was yellow because of the yellow power ranger lol. But when I was a teenager I loved the look of red on ANYTHING, could have been on an oven mitt and I thought it was gorgeous. It is just a sexy, passionate color.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? If I could have dinner with anyone, I think I would choose Edgar Allan Poe. He was an fantastic writer. I love his poems, it would probably be a interesting dinner, don't cha think? lol

How did you get your model name? It was actually my husband's idea. He took my middle name, Nicole, and used the name of the hospital I was born in and tada Nicki Reed was born!

Tuna and Noodle Casserole
by Mrs. Harry S. Truman, wife of the U.S. president

1 can tuna
1 cup halved mushrooms
1/3 package noodles
1 pint milk
2 hard boiled eggs
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese
1/8 pound butter
salt and pepper

Boil noodles in salt water. Remove and drain. Make white sauce and add cheese and butter. Drain tuna. add all ingedients. Pour into buttered casserole. Bake in moderate oven 30 minutes. Serves 4

Mrs. Harry Truman Wife of U.S. President (1951)

Tuna Noodle Casserole Revamped
  • 6 oz no yolk noodles (you can use Ronzoni Healthy Harvest, or brown rice pasta for gluten free)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, minced fine
  • 3 tbsp flour (gluten free use rice flour)
  • 1 3/4 cups fat free chicken broth
  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1 oz sherry (optional)
  • 10 oz sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • 1 cup frozen petite peas (thawed)
  • 2 (5 oz) cans tuna in water, drained (I used albacore)
  • 4 oz 50% reduced fat sharp cheddar (I used Cabot)
  • butter flavored cooking spray
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp whole wheat seasoned breadcrumbs

Cook noodles in salted water until al dente, or slightly undercooked by 2 minutes. Set aside.

Melt the butter in a large deep skillet. Add onions and cook on medium heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the flour and a pinch of salt and stir well, cooking an additional 2-3 minutes on medium-low heat

Preheat oven to 375°. Lightly spray 9 x 12 casserole with butter flavored cooking spray.

Slowly whisk in the chicken broth until well combined, increasing heat to medium and whisking well for 30 seconds, then add the milk and bring to a boil. When boiling, addsherry, mushrooms and petite peas, adjust salt and pepper to taste and simmer on medium, mixing occasionally until it thickens (about 6-7 minutes). Add drained tuna, stirring another minute.

Remove from heat and add 1 cup reduced fat sharp cheddar and mix well until it melts. Add the noodles to the sauce and mix well until evenly coated. Pour into casserole and top with parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Spray a little more cooking spray and top and bake for about 20 - 25 minutes. Place under the broiler a few minutes to get the crumbs crisp (careful not to burn).

Hostess for a restaurant, aspiring pin up model, and Cigarette girl for burlesque troupe the Ruby Revue

Where are you from:
A very small town called Leonard, TX but I always claim Dallas as home even though it is an hour drive away.

Favorite photographer to work with:
My best work has come from a wonderful photographer named Christie McMillon,
but I find it the most fun and inspiring to work with my friends as they "play" photographer.

Tell me about your featured photo(s).
They are a collection of my many attempts to capture something artistic and creative as well as unique and beautiful.
I also like to think of my photos as successful, heart-felt projects that I could have only accomplished with the undying support and help of my lovely friends.

 When were they taken?
All of my photos have been taken this year after around the beginning of April.
I may be new, but I am incredibly devoted. :)

Why are they your favorite?
They are diverse and show my vast range of interests and looks. I like to think I am a "Jill of all trades" when it comes to pictures. I feel sexy, comfortable, and confident in a ton of stage, Barbie make up yet just the same in the all natural hippie look. I absolutely love to dress up and portray something words can't define while being photographed. I feel the most alive and passionate when I know I am a part of something great that is much bigger than myself.

How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography?
I have been enjoying photography of all kinds my whole entire life. I have had a fascination with Marilyn Monroe since I was a small child thanks to my oldest sister, and always adored her pictures that were hanging all over my wall. I've even been accused of having an unhealthy obsession with her! I have only been modeling amateurishly for the past year. I am off to an exciting and exhilarating start! I can not wait for what the future holds.

Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration?

Marilyn, of course, is my all-time favorite, as well as Bettie Page and burlesque dancers Sally Rand and Gypsy Lee Rose.
My favorite modern day pin ups are Pin Up Doll Ashley Marie (LOVE her!), Go-go Amy, Bianca Bombshell, and October Divine.
There are so many fabulous ones out there, its hard to not love every one of them!

What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers?
I really am not much of a brand fashionista, and I usually find most of my clothes at random (typically hole-in-the-wall) vintage shops and thrift stores.
However, l do love Dita Von Teese's lingerie line, Victoria Secret, WhatKateDid, and Betsey Johnson.

If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be?
It may sound silly, but I love America's Next Top Model, and a lot of times on the show she will do photo shoots with the models as their photographer. I would choose her to do my shoot in a heart beat!

What is your favorite color and why?
My favorite color is teal, but more of an aqua color.
I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I am really in love with nautical things like anchors, Sailor Jerry, and just all things related to the sea and sailors.
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be?
Johnny Depp. Please, please, please!

How did you get your model name?
My real name is Kerby Brooke Purser.
I originally wanted my model name to be something completely different, but my first burlesque show as a cigarette girl I kept introducing myself as "Kerby" naturally.
So I decided to keep Kerby and think of a cute, simple last name. When I was like three years old, my dad had a friend who called me Kerby Lou all of the time and I thought it was super cute so it just stuck.

Well, this week has been a bust because Kansas City got about 14 inches of snow, so I have been stuck in my house for 3 days.  The first day wasn't too bad, I got all my house hold duties caught up, downloaded some new books, slept in, all around awesome.  Day two, I started getting antsy.  I mean there is only so much TV you can watch, only so much pinterest you can look at.  Today, well I have to get out of this house.

Some fun ideas to up for tastebuds

Celebrity conspiracies that make sense.

Alkaline Trio Radio on Spotify.  A good choice.

I love a good makeup deal, especially when it saves you money.

Seriously one of my favorite side dishes. I know that we probably all have had, or use, the Campbell's soup recipe, but I know there has to be a better way.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with campbell's soup, but I try to not use condensed soups, if I don't have to.

Below is a new "modernized" recipe for the beloved dish.

Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients:

•8 ounces fresh baby bella or shitaake mushrooms, brushed clean, trimmed, and quartered

•2 - 3 TB butter

•1 pound frozen french cut green beans, cooked for 3 minutes and drained

•1 TB flour

•1/2 cup heavy cream, half-and-half or milk

•2 teaspoons soy sauce

•1 can (2.8 ounces) French's fried onions,

•1/8 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper, or to taste

•Kosher salt to taste

Procedure:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. F.

Place a heavy skillet over medium high heat. When pan is hot, add mushrooms and butter. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Saute mushrooms on high until browned.  Lower heat and add the flour.  Mix well for 1 minute.  Add the cream and a little milk,  add white pepper and stir until it thickens.  You may need to add more milk if sauce is too thick even though  you want a consistency similar to that of condensed cream soup.

Add beans, and soy sauce. Mix until combined.

Pour green bean mixture into a 1-1/2 quart casserole dish. Add fried onions to cover.  Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until bubbly and the onions are browned and crispy.

What is one of your favorite casseroles?

Stay Sweet,
Katty

 Andy Anisette

Age: 22

Occupation: Actress/Nanny

Where are you from: Originally born in Brussells, Belgium, grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and now I'm just trying to stay hip in Brooklyn, NY

Favorite photographer to work with: Definitely Ben Meadors, we've known each other for sometime and the shoots are always a very collaborative and creative process

Artist/Photographer/location of featured photo(s): Ben Meadors

Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite?: These photos were taken as promo shots for a cabaret-style show I did last December; it was primarily me singing songs with a little bit of dancing and A TON of bad jokes.  The cabaret was titled 'Strawberry Moonshine' and so the whiskey jugs are included as a comment on that -- I think they're my favorite because they have a sense of humor about them.

How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography?: Most of the "modeling" I've done has been for theatrical use or promotional work.  I always think of myself as an actress/performer first, but I guess I've been seriously pursuing the whole lifestyle for about 6 years

Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? Definitely Rita Hayworth and Brigitte Bardot, those ladies had it going ON.

What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I am pretty much clueless when it comes to designers.  My closet is made up of a little bit of this and a little bit of that -- I'm mostly interested in looks that fuse rock and roll with a feminine vintage western; think leather, burlap and lace

If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be? Rather than photographer, I'd give my left leg to be painted by Alberto Vargas.

What is your favorite color and why? My favorite color is green, it's the color of new life and nature!

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Neil Armstrong - my grandmother says he was my 5th cousin, so I'd like to ask him a) how did his side of the family compare to mine and b) did we REALLY go to the moon in 1969?

so....we got a lot of snow

Watching: Parenthood Season 2 and 3.   Due to the amount of snow Kansas City got last week, and this week, I think over 20 inches in total, I have had a lot of free time on my hands.  I started watch Parenthood because another blogger had mentioned how good it is, and after one episode, I was hooked.  I think the reason I love it so much is because it is real, or at least it seems real.  I also am partial to it because *SPOILER ALERT* I have a younger sister that was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and the show just really hits home with me.

Thinking about: how to get really happy.  I mean, I generally think that I  am a happy person, but I mean get REALLY happy.  I have tried to eliminate all in my life that drags me down, or perhaps just makes me feel less than satisfied.  However, I seem to find myself just growing oddly content with where I am.  Not in an 'I feel good about where I am' just an 'I think I can do better' feeling.  I know that there are always going to be things/people/places that make me mad, frustrated, sad, etc, but I know that I can slowly start getting that out of my life and move towards shear happiness.

Reading: I just downloaded Before I Fall to my kindle, and can't wait to start reading it.  It has been on my list to read for awhile.

Looking forward to:  Girl's Night out.  Tonight I get to hang out with some of my favorite ladies, and I couldn't be more excited!  We usually like to go somewhere fun, get a little dressed up and spend the time chatting, gossiping, plotting and planning.  You know, regular girl stuff.

Making me happy:  Right now, the thought of spring is what has me holding on.  I am over the cold, winter weather.  I seem to always ask myself why I live in Missouri, the part of the country that has all four seasons, some that last much longer than others.  I hate winter and I hate snow, and this week, I really really want spring!

Stay Sweet,
Katty
